Month: December 2015

In the spirit of everyone reviewing various milestones in 2015, I’ve chosen to get real personal and highlight my 5 favorite purchases from this past year. Deep, huh!? 😉 So actually in 2016 I do plan to dive a bit further into personal topics but for my last post of a truly awesome year, we’ll stick with fashion. My favorite. While I bet Kyle wishes I only bought FIVE things in the last 12 months, I think my favorites will be items that will have longevity. We can all justify a few splurges here and there if we have them for years to come. Am I right??! Without further ado, here is my top 5 in no particular order:

1) Quilted Jacket – This jacket was a MAJOR splurge for me but after eyeing this forever, I pulled the trigger on a trip to NYC in August. It’s already gotten a ton of use and because it’s not too heavy, I’m able to wear it over a thin v-neck when temps are higher or layered over a thick turtleneck to keep warm. I got the navy because classic.

2)  Infinity Ring – I got this at the beginning of the year at the James Avery location in Southlake, TX. After wanting a ring that I could wear 24/7 that was noticeable but practical I stumbled upon this one and bought it immediately. The price-tag made the buy a total no-brainer and I’ve been incredibly impressed with the quality! {This would make a great gift!}

3) Mid-rise Skinny Jeans – While these may not be listed exactly as ‘mid-rise’ they hit me below my belly button but at least 1.5″ above where my jeans usually hit my hips. I love that these hold everything in {and save me from exposing the backside!!!}. The wash of this particular pair isn’t too dark or too light and can easily be dressed up or down depending on my mood, where I’m going, etc. Ohhh and they’re SUPER slimming–major plus for that!

4) Lace-up Flats – Lace-up shoes were, and still are, all the rage. Ranging from affordable to OMG WHY WOULD YOU SPEND THAT MUCH ON TRENDY SHOES in price, if you were lucky enough to find a cute/comfortable pair in your size you bought them. Or maybe that was just my philosophy? HA. This particular pair is my favorite because the suede material is a bit different than most I came across and they’re really lightweight. I wear these at least 3x/week for anything from work to date night and haven’t been disappointed yet.

5) Black Leggings – So technically I bought my first pair of black Zella leggings BEFORE 2015 but I bought a back-up pair this year which means I can count it. Plus it’s my blog soooo… 🙂 Anyway, these are basically amazing. Every single girl regardless of age, shape, size, etc. needs these. You can wear them to workout, wear them to grocery shop, or wear them to lounge around the house. They flatten your tummy, lengthen your legs, and are BEYOND comfortable. At nearly half the price of similar pairs at Lulu, Splits59 and other well-known brands, they’re also much easier on the bank account.

There you have it. My favorite five from 2015. Of course I loved nearly everything I got this year but it was fun to really focus on the top pieces. My runners-up go to these OTK boots,this turtleneck, this crossbody, these Nikes, and this wrap dress. What were some of your favorite buys this past year!? Are you looking forward to investing in anything specific in the upcoming months?! Please share!!!

Is anyone else incredibly bummed that Christmas is over?! Ughhh. It’s by far my favorite holiday and I can’t believe how quickly it flew by! In the spirit of things winding down for the year, I thought I would do a quick Instagram roundup on the blog today. Since not every outfit that shows up […]

I’m sure none of you are last-minute shoppers so you can likely pass over this Gift Guide knowing that you had your presents purchased well before the those swarms of people fighting over parking spots at the mall or over the last Keurig machine at Target. To be honest, I actually did get all of my gift […]

It’s kind of {really} hard to beat temperatures above 50* a mere 5 night sleeps before Christmas, but to no complaining from me that is exactly what we got lucky enough to experience yesterday. While it still felt cool and was a bit breezy, there was no need to be out & about with an actual jacket. […]

Can we just pause for a moment to admire how seriously stunning this party dress is?! Ok, great, thanks. But for real though…this is a total show-stopper in my humble opinion. It’s feminine, bold, figure-flattering, and the ideal length to wear to anything from a cocktail party to a wedding. Be Yourself Boutique seriously outdid […]

Sometimes you find a piece of clothing that you absolutely love and need in every color andthis appropriately named ‘Softly’ sweater is the perfect example of that for me. Unfortunately my budget doesn’t allow for me to own it in the 5+ colors it comes in,Macy’s Friends & Family Sale has made adding it in the taupe […]

Raise your hand if you feel like the men in your life are the hardest ones to buy gifts for?! I know you can’t actually see me right now, but picture me standing on my chair with my hand raised right now. Whether it’s Kyle, my dad, or any other male for that matter, the struggle is […]
