This weekend the high temperatures in Omaha barely broke 0* and the wind chills at night hovered right around a balmy -25*. Welcome to the Midwest! As you can probably imagine we did NOT spend much time outdoors for obvious reasons, but when the sun decided to pop out yesterday afternoon I started craving some fresh, and very crisp, air. Luckily Kyle was a good sport and went along with a quick photo session in the frozen tundra of Nebraska. Now I will be the first to admit that when it’s so freaking cold outside the last thing I want to do is get dressed up all cute. Instead you will usually find me in some a combination of leggings, hoodies, warm socks, and my glasses. Not sorry about that either because being warm, comfy, and cozy is usually priority #1 in my book!

In light of braving Antarctic-conditions, I threw on this super cute AND super versatile fringed sweater and these vegan leather leggings. The Aztec-like print of this sweater {that actually wears more like a poncho!} caught my eye first and I loved the way it looked on such a simple color palette. The fringe detailing is also perfectly on-trend. My leather leggings are a recent after-Christmas purchase and I’m so glad I pulled the trigger. I’ve been on the lookout for a few years now to find a pair that look expensive but don’t break the bank as well as ones that I could move around normally in. This style from BLANKNYC proved to check all those boxes. {I’ve also heard good things about this pair, too and they’re on $28!} Sure my pumps were probably the least practical shoes I could’ve chosen but I liked the combination of textures and materials so much that I sacrificed in the name of fashion! 😉

Here are a few other sweater ponchos I’m loving: one, two, three, & four.
