Typically I steer clear of overly bold patterns or clothing pieces that are really loud. They use make me a bit nervous and if/when I would wear something more noticeable, I was always wondering if people were looking at me like ‘what the heck was she thinking!?’ That nervousness has diminished to a mere afterthought now that I’m a little older and care significantly less about how others perceive my outfits. I’ve learned that dressing for myself is all that matters. If others like what I have on then that is a bonus! Growing up with 3 very opinionated sisters and gaining a sister-in-law provides me with 4 brutally honest voices when I do need some input on purchasing something. I tend to ask their opinions on fit/cut/style fairly often and none of them hesitate to tell me what they really think, good OR bad. Just last week I sent a Snapchat to them, plus my mom, in this marigold top and got a resounding NO. Buzzkill. But in the end, they were right, I wasn’t a huge fan. I purchased this bohemian-inspired high-low dress last Fall and it was definitely a poorly received pick by the girls. My vote overrode theirs on the order though because something about the slightly odd Arabian pattern intrigued me. Definitely outside my usual wheelhouse and way different than anything else in my closet, I actually really love the playfulness of this dress and was excited to finally remove its tags!

Like I said on Wednesday, the weather this weekend was beautiful and it was nearly impossible not to take advantage of it. A chance to show a little leg felt so freely but also reminded me that the days of shaving my legs every day *insert eye-roll emoji here x100* are almost upon us. Wanting to take advantage of wearing these ultra-comfy OTK boots as much as possible before retiring them for the season, I thought this pair kept the look trendy and weather appropriate. The cognac suede matched the colors of the dress perfectly and they totally complimented each other in an non-obnoxious way. To be honest, I felt a bit hippie while wearing this so I knew that my round-frame Ray-Bans were essential to finish off the vibe. Like I said before, the entire outfit was outside my comfort zone and miles away from my usual denim & tee shirt uniform, but I have a feeling boho-esque looks will be popping up in my future.
