If you follow me on Snapchat (username: kristinkruse) you know I spent yesterday night at the Designer I Showcase for Omaha Fashion Week with my girlfriend Gina. Apologies for the snapping overload but I had to capture as much as possible because it was seriously SO MUCH FUN! Omaha Fashion Week is actually the 5th largest Fashion Week in the nation–something I didn’t know but think is super cool. I’ll be recapping everything from the evening from getting blowouts to our outfits to the show itself next week! For now, lets get down to the dirt on this head-to-toe blue look.

I had the blues this week. The good ones, not the bad!

While I’m completely and totally obsessed with Pantone’s 2016 Color of the Year Rose Quartz like every other girl, I’m also equally on-board with the less talked about Color of the Year, Serenity. First of all, the name itself sounds so peaceful and calming that it is no surprise wearing the color made me feel the same way. As soon as I saw these block-heeled sandals online I knew they were the first piece in that soft, dusty blue that I had to add to my closet for Spring. They’re more comfortable than your average 4″ heeled sandal but of course they’re not built for walking around too much in. I love the thicker heel and how the suede gives them a bit of an edge. Currently debating getting them in the mustard as well! When getting dressed I build an entire look around a single starting piece–sometimes that means a cute shoe, other times it might be a statement necklace or a printed top; so with this particular outfit I started on the bottom.

Casual. Cool. Chic. Comfortable.

The 4 ‘C’ words that I try and master each time I walk out the door. I knew that with the sandals being a focal-point to my outfit that I wanted to keep everything else simple. This loose-fitting {wearing an XS} top was the perfect pairing to be matchy but not over done. I’m excited to wear it with white cutoffs and wedges but am also envisioning it knotted into a cropped style with a midi skirt. Cropped skinny jeans and a neutral bag completed the perfect early dinner date get-up and not having to top everything off with a coat was icing on the cake!
