Pinstripes aren’t just for the boys.

I use to think that tiny white stripes on a black base were only worn by businessmen who worked long hours. Something about them seemed so masculine which is why I avoided them at all costs. It’s ironic to think of me avoiding that kind of look because I’m such a stripe-wearing fanatic. A legit, large portion of my closet is dedicated to thick, thin, vertical, horizontal, and colorful striped patterns on everything from tops to swimwear to shoes. As I was browsing through the dresses on the Tobi website, I came across a knee-length sheath with subtle pinstripe details and a unique back. Initially I skipped over it and continued to scroll through their huge selection but my mind kept going back to it so I decided to examine it further. When I viewed the various angles, I was sold on its subtle sexiness and femininity so into my cart it went.

Versatility is so major for me.

I know I’ve said that a million times but it’s the absolute truth. I don’t feel the need to compromise the way I dress so if something isn’t versatile {outside of pieces for special or very particular events} then it’s a no. With this dress I was not entirely sure how I could make it wearable for multiple functions and it didn’t instantly check all the boxes in my ‘Rule of 3’ but because Tobi was graciously gifting it to me, I felt taking a risk was worth the potential reward. And it so was! The moment I tried it on and looked in the mirror, the deal was sealed. It’s absolutely perfect for date night as I expected, and like I styled for in these photos, but it’s actually work-friendly too. With a little creativity, I was able to wear the dress in our office last week. Pairing a basic white crew neck tee underneath cancelled out the low-cut front and noticeable back and I added my go-to black pumps and a structured tote to polish off the look. So many compliments! #winning Just as equally happy as I was with the conservative look, I’m totally loving the idea of keeping the dress edgy too. The cut doesn’t lend itself well for wearing a bra but I’m totally ok without the restriction, though double-sided tape wouldn’t be a bad idea! 😉 A bright white pump, hot pink clutch patent clutch & a deeper lip {wearing MAC’s Plumful} make the getup totally date night or Bachelorette Party attendee appropriate.

What are your thoughts on the dress?? Too much? How would you style it differently?! Would love to hear y’alls thoughts!! Also, don’t forget your first order with Tobi is 50% off! Scoring anything from their amazing selection for half-off is a killer deal, especially pieces like this romper, this blouse, these shorts, this skirt and these sandals. Obsessed.
