Today’s #ThursdayThree is all over the board; sorry about that!

My brain is a jumbled mess today so it only makes sense that this post kind of is too. I’m not sure what’s wrong with me but I feel like a crazy person at the moment. HELP! Also, I knocked out a 6:15am OrangeTheory ‘Tornado’ class today AND am taking a Cycle + Barre hybrid class tonight at 5:45pm. Already regretting the decision to sign up for tonight’s class but it’s too late to back out now. Pray for me!!!

#1 Rotisserie Chicken

This is not some new discovery or an OMG-type declaration but lately I’ve been obsessed with Rotisserie Chicken. Much more than usual. Now that I’m back to working full-time, I have less time to think about what we’re having for dinner. That in turn can lead to grabbing take out and anyone who knows me knows that I get sick of eating out fast. Like vacations are brutal because I can’t stand not eating normal, home-cooked meals. Anyway, back to the point: Rotisserie Chicken is the bomb.com. I’ve used it for everything from enchiladas to chicken salads to burrito bowls {notice a Mexican-themed trend there!?} to soup. It’s so simple and involves literally no prep time on my end. Just grab a chicken from your local grocery store, shred however much you need for your recipe and voila! When something can take prep time away from me and give me those precious 20ish minutes back to do other things, I’m hooked. A few of my favorite recipes with chicken lately can be found here, here & here!

#2 Proper Form

Since I am absolutely no fitness expert, I’m the last person that should be allowed to dole out advice on proper form but I will say that I’ve been really working on maintaining proper form myself in everything I’ve been doing. The easiest way to injure yourself is to do things wrong. I think that goes for everything in life though, not just working out. Anyway, the more I have kept proper alignment during lifting, planks, etc. the better my lower back and knees have been feeling. With all that being said, my girl Nicole from Pumps & Iron just did an entire post dedicated to this topic and she really is an expert. Check her post out HERE and see what you may be doing wrong, or right!, and ways you can correct your form. I for one definitely don’t hold my head/neck right during push-ups so that one was super eye-opening for me!

#3 Wantable

If you haven’t heard of Wantable, you need to check them out immediately. They’re tagline is that they ‘take the legwork out of shopping’ and it’s true. Similar to a lot of other styling services, Wantable puts together a curated box focused on 1 of 5 categories: Style, Fitness, Makeup, Accessories & Intimates. Once you pick which category you’re most interested in, you fill out a style profile, sizing info, etc. and from there a stylist sends you 5 pieces. The concept is great because it takes the burden of shopping off of your hands and you can try everything on from the comfort of your home. I recently tried out their ‘Fitness Edit’ for the months of June and July. The pieces I recieved in June {all 5 of them} were too big and I wasn’t a huge fan of the styles or materials so I sent everthing back in their pre-paid envelope. July rolled around and the edit was basically a jackpot. My stylist really got a grasp on what I like/don’t like and while I only ended up keeping 2 of the 7 pieces–my stylist sent me 7 to allow for more options since the first box was kind of a bust!–I really did love them all. Unfortunately one of the bras just didn’t provide enough support for what I would wear it for and the other bra was too confusing to put on, the tank I received looks identical to 2 I already own, the short sleeve dri-fit wasn’t a cut I would ever workout in and the capris were a bit pricey ($88 to keep) for the pattern they were in. I did keep a pair of mesh-paneled capris and a sleeveless, hooded sweatshirt that is SO soft and I’m happy with both! My honest opinion on the service is this: if you don’t like picking out or own items or don’t have the time and you’re not necessarily loyal to any specific brand(s), this would be awesome for you to try out! There is a $20/month styling fee that is non-refundable {basically it’s the stylist’s commission for researching & putting together your items} but other than that there is no commitment to buy anything. If you do love everything in your Edit, you get 20% off the entire purchase which is great. I am cancelling my subscription for the Fitness Edit and here is why: I’m INCREDIBLY picky when it comes to the things I wear during workouts and have only a few brands that I love. Since I’m a big fan of the overarching idea of Wantable, I’m considering giving another category {likely makeup!} a try. As always, I want to be as HONEST and TRANSPARENT when it comes to sharing what I think of things…while this may not be for me, I see the major benefits of the program and highly encourage you to check it out so you can see if it could work for you! Interested in trying Wantable for yourself?!
