I’m weird.

Seriously. I am weird. I mean, I like to think that most people are a bit weird but I have no issue in proclaiming my weirdness. In my opinion quirks and unique characteristics are what set each of us apart and keep life interesting, refreshing and entertaining. Individual differences should be embraced and welcomed not shunned or made fun of. With that in mind, this week’s Workout Wednesday post has a little different spin than usual. Y’all know that besides being ‘unique’ that I’m also extremely Type A…I like things neat, orderly, consistent and to follow somewhat of a routine. That is definitely true for me in my workouts. The positive side to that is I’m extremely dedicated to a minimum 6 days/week of exercise but the negative is that I likely don’t mix up said routine as much as I could. When Organic Valley reached out with the opportunity to try out their ‘Weird Workout Kit,’ I knew I couldn’t pass it up! Equipped with some offbeat items to shake things up, I was forced to think a little a lot outside of the box when creating a workout that could incorporate oddities while still feeling like I got a solid sweat session in. Challenge accepted!

Totally throwing it back!

Do you remember Skip-Its & hula-hoops?! Ok, obviously everyone remembers playing around with hula-hoops but the Skip-It may have been missed on some. I remember having both when my sisters and I were younger and we could entertain ourselves all afternoon with contests of who could go the longest or who could have the least amount of errors in a certain time frame. Pretty sure I haven’t used either of these items in say 15ish years so I was equally surprised and nostalgic when I opened up my kit and found BOTH. Hellllllllllo childhood memories! 🙂 After quickly realizing these were kid’s toys and not usual pieces of fitness equipment, I was a little less excited. What the heck am I supposed to do with these? But then my mind got to wandering and out came a simple 20-minute workout that I suggest taking outdoors. My driveway was the perfect amount of space to test out this quickie routine {plus Kyle doesn’t like me running outside alone anymore in the early mornings–LONG story!} and it was a fun fat-blasting, higher-intensity-than-I-expected session. While it might look a bit confusing, I promise it is simple and can be done by literally anyone, at any fitness level. Below  is what it looked like:

A few ‘extra’ goodies…

Also included in my Organic Valley Weird Workout Kit were some basic headphones {perfect because I’m constantly losing mine!}, a small gym bag that will be perfect for throwing my sweaty gym clothes in so they don’t contaminate the rest of my bag, and a 4 pack of their infamous Vanilla Organic Fuel Protein Shake. To be completely honest, I am as picky as can be when it comes to protein shakes. I have an issue with the texture of most of them and I absolutely cannot stand when they taste chalky. Too thick, too gross, too whatever are usually my main complaints. Also, because I’m lactose-intolerant, my options for pre-made protein shakes are very limited. With all that in mind, when these shakes arrived I was eager to try them but then unfortunately realized that they had milk in them so I was SOL. I did try a few sips and thought they tasted good enough that I would definitely have drank the entire bottle if I wasn’t risking horrible stomach cramps and throwing up last night’s dinner. My issue was Kyle’s gain and he instead got to enjoy all 4 bottles and had great things to say about them! Now if only they made a coconut milk or almond milk based option for us less fortunate!

Have you tried Organic Valley products? What exercises would you try out w/ these weird pieces of equipment?! Share with me below!
