What is the best way to dress to combat transitional weather?

That is the question I’ve literally asked myself daily for the last few weeks. It could be as chilly as the upper 40s in the morning but some days have warmed all the way up to the low 80s. Layers are an obvious answer but I’ve decided that I don’t always want to pile on the pieces, so I have had to get a bit more creative. Enter my combination of off-the-shoulder, over-the-knee and out-of-the-box. I’m calling this thought process the ‘O.’ Really original, I know! 😉 It’s a great way to combine different trends while making sure you’re not too warm or too chilly when taking on the day!

Off the Shoulder

This trend is still moving full steam ahead into Fall/Winter and I don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon. Totally fine by me because I’m obsessed. Instead of gauzy fabrics, cropped silhouettes and bright prints that I was loving this Summer, I’ve been stocking up on cozy fabrics, dramatic draping, longer hemlines and deeper tones. I hear a lot of girls that aren’t as big into the OTS look because of the bra situation and for that, I respond back with my favorite nude strapless bra ever. I wear it with anything and everything and right now it’s 25% off! I’ve been pushing the limits at work with my wardrobe and sprinkling in some classy OTS tops and so far I’ve gotten away with it. Fingers crossed that continues! Six options I’ve loving right now are below:

Over the Knee

My affinity for OTK boots continues from the past two years. They’re slimming, keep my always-freezing feet toasty and there’s literally a style out there for every personality and budget. From suede to leather and wedge to stiletto heels, these boots can do no wrong in my opinion. The only complaint I have is that they take up a LOT of space in my closet. Not the worst problem to have though! 🙂 When I’m looking at this style of boot, my priorities are fit and comfort. The last thing I want is to feel like my calves and knees are suffocating or crammed in like sausages. My legs are definitely more stocky than the rest of my body so finding a good fitting pair is actually a lot harder than it may seem. I’ve been known to try for the wide calf version in some styles just to make sure I can wear whatever denim I want under them. Comfort is also key because ain’t nobody got time to not be. Match made in Heaven

I actually bought this dress a few months ago {and now it’s on sale, so that’s annoying} and completely forgot about it. I have love/hate feeling towards that kind of situation…love that it’s a ‘new’ piece to wear but hate that money was kind of wasted. Oopsie daisy! Anyway, when I found this further down the line of dresses in my closet, I knew it would be perfect for a casual-ish date night. Usually with a dress like this I would go for a block heel to keep it cool but because it actually was cool out, I opted for the OTK boots instead. The color of the suede really brought out some of the Fall colors in the dress and it ended up being getting me a few compliments too. Can’t beat that, right!? Warning y’all right now, these boots I got last year are an absolute staple for me and they’ll be on constant repeat this Fall. This exact pair is still available on Amazon but the updated version of them can be found HERE as well. If the heel height makes you nervous, don’t be, I promise they’re actually quite comfortable too!

Big plans this weekend?! We’re having a fairly low key one since Kyle spent the last 4 days in Dallas for work. I’m actually excited because that means I can finally finish the last 3 episodes of Stranger Things! I jumped on that bandwagon last weekend and was instantly hooked butttttttttt since I was home alone for 3 nights, I decided it probably wasn’t the best idea to keep watching them so I saved the rest for tonight, HA. Cheers, babes! xox
