Happy #WorkoutWednesday, babes! My plan in 2017 is to do 2 ‘weekly recaps’ of what my workouts for the week looked like each month and then the other 2 Wednesdays of the month do something more targeted like what supplements I swear by, etc. Hopefully this lay out will provide at least someone with some motivation each week šŸ™‚ Today’s run was a struggle for me because I’m running on a little less than 4 hours of sleep. Mom went back to the ER overnight last night so we all had kind of a rough last 12 hours. On a lighter note…how CUTE is this muscle tee? It’s from CrossTraining Couture and I’m obsessed. I absolutely love the messages on each and every one of their items, THIS one especially because this particular verse from Joshua is one that really has resonated with me lately. You can get 15% off of any order with code SAVE15 from any item off the CrossTraining Couture website and if you’re interested in learning more about how the Bible can shape your fitness goals, they offer a free eBook HERE!

Wednesday, January 4 – 3 miles + Abs

This run felt a lot better than Monday’s despite my hamstrings and glutes being super sore from the previous day’s OrangeTheory strength class. I seemed to have more energy and stamina and cranked out the 3 miles a little quicker than expected (7.2 mph). Followed the run up with 2 ab workouts {HERE & HERE} from Tone It Up!

Thursday, January 5 – Stretch/Foam Roll/Rest Day

My legs totally needed a rest and recovery day so I’m glad I built one into my week. Instead of waking up, taking my pre-workout and heading to the basement, I got up a little slower than usual and spent 20 minutes stretching and waking up. SO good for the mind and soul, people! After work I foam rolled some problem areas and called it a day.

Friday, January 6 – OrangeTheory

Class felt amazing after resting the previous day. I felt like I had so much energy and kept my paces high on the treadmill throughout the entire endurance portion. We had two longer running blocks which felt really good–dare I even say, easy?! The rowing portion killed me though as we did a 6 minute all-out-effort row for distance followed by 1 minute max effort + 30 second squat hold intervals 6x through. Brutal. My legs were shaking by the time we moved to the weight floor. Lots of heavy weights, lower rep counts and leg focus for the gym portion which had me sprawled out on the floor by the end. In a good way of course! 638 calories burned made it totally worth it.

Saturday, January 7 – 4 miles

By no means a ‘long’ run but I swear on the treadmill, all distances feel like about double what they really are. I put on theĀ Hip-Hop BBQ Pandora station and powered through. Afterwards I actually felt really good and it set me up for a Saturday where I had no junk food, alcohol or carbs because I didn’t want to ruin my ‘high.’ Nothing like starting the first full weekend of the New Year on a positive note!

Sunday, January 8 – 2 mile combo + Yoga

We decided to go to early church on Sunday so Kyle could go hunting in the afternoon–shocking I know–so I knew that I would’ve have a ton of time but still wanted to get a little bit of cardio in so I decided on 2 miles, walking .5 then running .5 two times through. It was the perfect way to work up a quick sweat and burn a few calories. Late in the afternoon I did THIS yoga video which felt unbelievably good and really helped to stretch out some sore muscles that I worked a lot harderĀ than usual over the past week.

Monday, January 9 – 3 miles + Abs

Today was a mental day. My lungs and legs felt great the entire time on the treadmill {still can’t run outside because it’s been a pretty consistent 0* with wind for 2 weeks and counting…} but my mind was in a million other places. It took everything from counting backwards my time to ‘you have x distance left’ to ‘only 4 more songs and you’re done’ to keep me from lowering my speed or pretty much from stopping. It’s weird when the mental side is not there but the body is, especially because anytime my mind & body aren’t in sync it’s usually because my body needs the attention. Luckily I was able to suck it up, finish and move to abs {THIS video}.Ā I love finishing off workouts with abs so in a weird way the core moves were my reward for pushing through.

Tuesday, January 10 – OrangeTheory

It’s Peak Performance week at OTF’s across the nation and Tuesday was all about the 24 minute run for distance. This is my 3rdĀ time doing this challenge since joining OrangeTheory in October of 2015 so I have two previous distances to compare myself to which gave me a goal when I stepped on the treadmill. Last Fall I made it 3.071 miles in 24 minutes and this time I improved a bit and went for 3.280 miles. That’s a little under an 8 minute/mile pace which I was super happy about because I swear my split times indoors are WAY slower than outside on the pavement. Anyway, after that horrible experience we hoped on the rowers for a 300m row followed by various weighted exercises for 9 minutes, then another round of that for 9 minutes and finished class with a 4 minute core blast. Needless to say I wasn’t shocked when my results showed 677 calories burned in less than an hour.
