Happy National Dress Day.

I feel like every day of the year is National Something-or-Other and I’m typically unaware of what I should be celebrating each day. Today’s ‘holiday’ however is one that I had a little heads-up on and figured I should probably take advantage of. It’s not that I really need an excuse to wear a dress but with such unpredictable weather lately, it hasn’t always been the smartest choice of clothing to put on before work. There’s a strong femininity tied to wearing a dress, for obvious reasons, and I kind of love that today I’m celebrating being a woman. But lets be honest, I’m more excited about not wearing pants and not having to match anything besides my shoes to the dress that I chose. πŸ˜‰ Plus it’s nice to get a little bit dressed up because all weekend I struggled to even brush my hair in the mornings! Little Palmer was with us for 3 days and now that he’s walking–literally EVERYWHERE–not a second goes by that you don’t have to have an eagle’s eye on him. We had a few mishaps {some broken home decor pieces, 32 oz. of water in a Yeti knocked over, a pretty much failed bath attempt} but overall it was a successful endeavor. The dude insists on sleeping in our bed and it took Kyle about 3 hours to realize there wasn’t enough room for all 3 of us…so P & I took over the bed and sent Kyle to the basement with his pillow and the two dogs. Glad he learned his rank as quickly as he did! I was grateful to be able to squeeze in a 9 mile run on Saturday afternoon and a tough OTF class in Sunday morning but between those workouts and sharing a bed with an 11 month old, I couldn’t be craving sleep more this Monday!

Does this dress look familiar?

For those that are regular A Midwestern Mix visitors, this dress probably looks familiar. That is because I also have it in black–last seen HERE–and it’s made a few appearance on Instagram & Snapchat. While both colors are now sold out {which is a total bummer}, I am crossing my fingers that they’re restocked soon and brought back in additional colors. I cannot get enough of this muted, cornflower blue color right now. It’s not an easy hue to find but any time I see it, I snatch up whatever item it might be. At an insanely amazing price-point, this long sleeved midi dress is perfect for everything. It can be dressed up with pumps and a statement necklace, more office-friendly as I’ve styled it in these photos or even taken super casual with sneakers and a jacket tied around the waist. It’s figure-flattering and comfortable, which aren’t usually two characteristics that go hand-in-hand, but two really important factors in the pieces I buy. I was able to find a few similar options here, here and and almost identical here but I’ll be honest and say I’m quite partial to these simple Asos ones! They always have such a great selection of dresses and I currently have this cute pom pom dress, this bell sleeve shiftΒ and this plaid mini in my cart. Can you tell I’m craving Spring like no other?! HURRY UP ALREADY. Ok, off to down shots of espresso and pray that Thursday evening comes quickly! We’re heading to Kansas City for the Big 12 Tournament with a group of besties from college and I cannot contain my excitement. Play > Work errrrrrrrryday! πŸ™‚
