Ruffles on a midi dress = instant obsession.

Every once in a while I spot a piece of clothing that seems to jump off the screen at me. It’s rare considering I come across WAY too many ‘must buy‘ items while online shopping that one particular thing really stands out, but this dress did just that. When I clicked on it, it had mixed reviews but I couldn’t let some of those negatives hold me back from at least giving it a chance. Something about the hemline, ruffled bottom and dusty hue convinced me that I might just love it. The minute it arrived and I opened it up I was shocked with how heavy it was. Not heavy in a super hot/sweaty way but in a way that’s hard to describe unless you actually slip it on. Because of the material, it’s quite forgiving and flattering. Without the ruffled hem and shorter front-length the dress would be a totally shapeless potato sack but with those subtle details comes a feminine silhouette that I feel like just about anyone can pull off. Another aspect of the dress that had me a bit nervous was the color tone; while it also comes in black and white, I had to have the light pink instead. Currently I’m about as not tan as I’ve ever been so my hesitation came from the fact that I was pretty sure the color would blend with my skin tone and was me out completely. I’ll be honest and say that I’d prefer to be a few shades darker the next time I wear this out and about, but it wasn’t nearly as bad on me right now as I thought it would be!

Perfect option for Easter!

Please tell me I’m not the only one who is constantly confused as to why Easter sometimes is in March, sometimes in April and changing every year!? I mean I know there is a reason but it just seems so odd that it fluctuates so much. Regardless, it’ll be upon us this Sunday and if you’re still at a loss for what to wear to Church, family brunch or for anything else as the holiday approaches, let THIS dress be your answer. It can easily be more dressed up with a pair of strappy sandalsΒ and a statement necklace or if you need something more casual, top it off with a denim jacket and gladiator sandals. Whichever way you choose to style it, I’ll about guarantee you that the compliment will roll in. Shockingly, or quite the opposite actually, I kept my look simple with a similar-toned wedge and neutral sunnies. Side note: the twirl factor is pretty epic–I think the heavier material helps give it the perfect amount of swing and what girl doesn’t have a fondness for spinning around like a 4 year old every once in a while?! πŸ˜‰ Alright babes, I’m now off to finish about 312 things on my To-Do List and attempt to stay awake until at least 7pm or so tonight!
