#1 Chocolate Almondmilk Ice Cubes

This is about as simple as it gets but these little guys are game-changers! I’ve been avoiding adding any kind of syrup or sugary substances to my iced coffees in the morning but I haven’t quite found something to mellow out the acidity of my go-to cold brews, until now! I rarely buy Chocolate Almondmilk but on a whim I grabbed some the last time I was in Whole Foods and once I open it, I know it doesn’t have the longest shelf live. Unfortunately I don’t drink enough to finish a carton usually but I was committed not to let any go to waste this time. After opening the freezer door and seeing an empty ice tray I knew I had to make my own ice cubes. Not sure exactly how I was going to use them–figured smoothies–I ended up dropping 2 into my coffee earlier this week and it was magical. Not going to lie, I was pretty proud of myself for not throwing away the extra milk and for discovering a relatively healthy way to liven up my coffee addiction!

#2 Pigeon Pose Stretch

Oh it hurts so good. Seriously. After my Chiro appt yesterday afternoon I was sent home with some stretches and suggestions on how to get my knee to calm the F down before Sunday’s race and just in general. Besides foam rolling the crap out of it and crying for a solid 15 minutes of chizzling away at my IT band, the Pigeon Pose was said to need to become my best friend. I’m fairly flexible and use to {need to start again ASAP} practice yoga regularly but even then, my hip flexors were always the most tight/tense part of my body. Add an overworked IT band into the mix and sitting like a pigeon is horrible. But I’m doing it, 3 minutes at a time and 3x a day. Hopefully it’ll loosen up my problem areas and I’ll be in darn good shape for this weekend!

#3 Supporting Local Businesses

Yesterday evening I was invited to a re-branding/re-opening of a local cookie hot spot; formerly Kristen’s Cookies and now Carson’s Cookie Fix. Anyone who knows me knows that cookies, especially good old chocolate chip ones, are my weakness so I knew there was no chance I was missing out on some samples and checking out the shop. Not only is the interior of the store adorable, but the baked goods are INSANE. Because I’m a cookie fanatic, I can be pretty critical of taste, texture, etc. but goodness gracious everything I tasted was fabulous. Carson’s Cookie Fix can do anything from basic cookies to fancy-schmancy screen-printed, super customized goodies. I mean they put my face & logo on a freaking sugar cookie, y’all. Allllllllll the heart eyes! 🙂 If you’re local to Omaha, get yourself over to Miracle Hills and pop in–if not, there will eventually be an option to order online {not sure if that’ll be available outside of the metro area, though so don’t quote me on that part!}. If you just need some amazing inspiration or can’t eat yummy cookies but want to just look and admire them from afar, you can find them on FACEBOOK!
