How is it the first Monday in June?!

I’m not sure where y’all are reading this from but here in Omaha it’s a scorcher today! No complaints from me though because I thrive in this weather. When it’s hot, humid and the sky is cloudless is when my mood is at like an A+ rating! While my body is still recovering a bit from Saturday’s Half Marathon with my SIL {our time was terrible but I actually had FUN running the entire thing!}, I’m feeling ready to start the first real ‘Summer month’ with a bang. Because of that I decided to challenge myself and start doing the Whole 30 diet today. It seems like a crazy time to start something with all the cookouts, patio drinks and parties coming up but I actually think because of all that, it’s the perfect time for me. I’ll be completely honest & upfront that I will be modifying a few days {Bach Party this Saturday, wedding at the end of June} but since I’m doing it for my internal self than weight loss, etc. I feel OK with the modifications. Do any of you set monthly goals or intentions? So far this year I’ve been pretty solid in doing so and this month I’m zoning in on being more gentle on my body physically as well as meditating every day. This past Friday my ‘corporate’ life was turned upside down unexpectedly and while I’m at an incredible loss for why things happen the way they do sometimes, I’m surprisingly at peace with things and ready to conquer what lies ahead. I’m pretty confident that the inner calm I’m feeling has a heck of a lot to do with the big guy upstairs, so for that I’m grateful.

Sassy Chambray.

Now onto this little mini dress. Chambray is one of those materials that doesn’t necessarily scream ‘wear me in warm weather‘ but this particular dress couldn’t be more perfect to do so. It’s lightweight and breezy and the one shoulder look is totally on-trend. Lucky for all of you, it’s now 30% off! Unlucky for me, I paid full price; however I truly believe it has been and will be worth it over the next few months. Most ladies aren’t going to be able to strut into their office wearing this cutie {if you can, I envy you!} but it would work great for brunch, as a bridal or baby shower guest, to a rehearsal dinner–where I plan to wear it next–or in a more casual setting like an outdoor concert. As always, adding a brightly colored sandal and statement earrings will take it into the evening while a gladiator sandal and fringed crossbody give off a hippie, festival edge. For reference, I’m wearing the XS and it fits perfectly. With nearly all of my BB Dakota items, I seem to size down one.

I just finished my first Whole 30-approved breakfast, THIS recipe here, and now I’m off to organize all of our closets. Pray for me, HA! Then I’m parking myself on the deck on a lounge char with a sparkling water & the newest book on my reading list. Hope your days are fabulous! xox
