The color black is my spirit animal.

Can I claim that? Or does your spirit animal have to be an actual animal? Well whatever, I’m deciding it can be a thing. Black can do no wrong. It’s slimming, appropriate for any and all occassions, can be subtle or sexy, matches everrrrrything and it is always my go to. When I feel like I have nothing to wear: black denim + a black v neck and I’m good to go. When I have a big work event: black pencil pants + pumps + blouse and I’m set. Wedding to attend: flirty LBD and I look cute but won’t look overdone. So see, black really is the essence of all fashion goodness. While I’m singing the color’s praises, can we pause a moment for how chic black paint on walls looks {uhmmm YES to this guest bedroom}?! Amazing. Ironically enough this absence of color is exactly how I’d describe my heart to look at the moment. It’s freaking freezing in Omaha and I’m not about this cold weather life which is currently being reflected in my attitude towards everyone. Y’all have been warned! 😉

Chic AND affordable.

Those two words, especially when used together, are like music to my ears. We all want to be chic, we all want to save money {or is that just my perogative?!} and the opportunity to combine those characteristics probably encourages us to buy more clothes, shoes, etc. than we may really ‘need.’ So don’t shoot the messenger but I’m here to tell you that you kinda, sorta, really need to order THIS dress. The long sleeves are perfect for the chillier temps and the midi length keeps it classy. Made from a thin but not see-through blend, you can easily add a biker jacket or fur vest over top for some added warmth. And I saved the best part for last…the price tag. $23. You did read that right. TWENTY-THREE-FREAKING-DOLLARS. Told ya you needed it!

I’m not that dressed up!

I wore this black midi to work on Thursday and you would not believe how many people asked me ‘why are you so dressed up?’ Someone even asked if I had an interview somewhere else! LOL. Granted I work with all men but still. It fell on deaf ears when I tried to explain that this was a basic long sleeve dress {I was wearing these plain pumps} and by no means was I extremely dressed up. I guess this was mainly my fault since my usual work attire is much more skinny jeans and a sweater, yet I didn’t feel overly dressy. But I am glad that a $23 shirt dress can make people think I’m somewhat fancy! Next time I think I’ll go for tennis shoes and longline cardigan to try for a more casual look.

Now it’s time to conquer this Monday and bask in the fact I only have to work 2.5 days this week! HELLS YES!

*For reference, I’m in a US 4 and it started out a bit fitted when I first put it on in the morning but within an hour it was loose–so you may want to size down depending on the look you prefer!
