Work clothes don’t have to be dull and boring.

Although most of them honestly tend to be. I’ve said it before but I am definitely lucky in my professional life because I’ve got a pretty laid-back dress code. Being in the IT industry and then being 1 of only 2 {we recently added a female Account Manager! YAY!} girls in the office, pretty much anything goes. Sure I need to look put-together and presentable but if I want to wear jeans on a Tuesday, I do so without thinking twice. More often than not though that isn’t the case. While you’ll always find me in a nice pair of denim on Fridays, I at least attempt to wear more business casual/professional attire most of the week. Because I don’t find my typical style to be boring or drab, I definitely don’t allow my 8-5 wardrobe fall victim to seeming that way. Pops of color are always a yes for me and accessorizing simple outfits bail me out of any rut I’m feeling. Oh and when I’m in doubt, I go black top tucked into black skinny pants with a tall black heel and I instantly get #girlboss vibes.

Valentine’s Day pants.

I’ve had THESE bright red pants in my closet for a while now but only break them out on special occasions. They’re quite a statement and I usually get comments on them {some good, some not so good HA!} so I can’t wear them too often because people remember them. Oh the joys of strategic dressing! 🙂 Since I’m a major planner, I’m always thinking what I’ll be wearing for the next holiday, outing, etc. and I knew without hesitation that my red pants would be exactly the starting point for my Valentine’s Day outfit at work since it conveniently falls on a Tuesday. Major *eye roll*! I have all the feels for the holiday but it’s a total buzz kill when the fun ones fall during the work week. Like there goes my idea of downing an entire bottle of Pinot Noir that evening. Probably for the best I guess. Today’s look is one of three that I’m highlighting this week to give you a little Love Day inspiration. Paired with a simple, yet unique black top and black pumps the pants easily take center stage. The ideal combo for meetings, presentations and a lunch date this outfit gets you in the Valentine’s Day mood without being too kitschy.
