Shredded detailing is everything right now.

Really though, it is! Everything from denim to dresses to handbags are currently sporting frayed and ‘undone’ aspects and I’m loving it. Ram hems? All about them. Heavily destructed jeans {these!? YES please!}? Give me every pair. Call me crazy but I actually like hearing my Grandma or Great Aunt comment about how they can ‘sew up the holes in my pants’ if I need them to. For reference, I don’t need the assistance but appreciate the offer! 😉 As someone who usually sticks to solid colors and more basic styles and silhouettes, this trend seems a bit unordinary for me and I think that’s why I enjoy it so much.

Something about the undone aspect gives me cool girl feels.

I don’t usually have those so I’ll take them when I can! My outfits lend themselves more to the conservative and classic side of the spectrum so introducing a relaxed, harder vibe to my wardrobe sparks a 90s-ish vibe in me that I didn’t even realize was there! Like these shorts I picked up during Shopbop’s sale…I think I had a version of these when I was 7. So awesome.

Because I’ve got great use out of my classic white denim all Fall & Winter I knew that wanted to add another white pair to my closet for Spring. With the excessive shredding being so popular, I thought that would be the perfect counter to my current pair. I scoured local stores and online retailers and finally came across the ones I’m wearing here. Perfection. I was immediately obsessed with the combination of the excessively shredded front, raw hemline, and cropped ankle length. Unfortunately my exact pair are sold-out but these are identical with the exception of the raw hem and they’re over 50% off right now. YAY for sale prices! Since I can’t exactly turn away from my simple roots, I paired these statement making bottoms with a plain black dress that I knotted on the side. I love knotting short dresses and tunics so that I can get wear out of them before going bare legged, plus it’s fun to create a whole different look with them! These mesh, pointy-toe flats have made appearances on my Insta & Snapchat but I just adore the look of them paired with the black & white color combo; and at $25 they’re kind of a no-brainer for the warmer months! {**Sizing note: I’m usually an 8-8.5 in all shoes but I took these in a 7.5!} This ensemble works equally as well for weekend drinks on the patio as it does exploring the downtown blocks of a new city!
