I searched for almost a year for the perfect Chambray dress.

That is not even an exaggeration. It has honestly taken me more than one year to find a quality denim dress option that wasn’t too short or too long, that had some detail but wasn’t overstated, and that was comfortable but also structured enough to wear to the office on casual Fridays. I am also not lying when I say that I tried on well over 25 dresses and ordered at least 10 different styles online that all ended up being returned. To me, a Chambray dress is a closet staple that should be high quality but not overly expensive. I wanted a complete outfit in one package that I could grab at any time for any event. Nothing I had previously tried wow’d me or made me feel content when I put it on so I went home empty handed trip after trip.

Then one cloudy day over my lunch break, the perfect dress appeared.

Ok, that sounded a lot bitย dramatic but it’s kind of exactly how it happened. I used my lunch break one day to run over to an outdoor shopping center in Omaha to pop into Lululemon for a birthday gift for my SIL, no harm there, but I had to park quite a ways away and ended up walking by a handful of stores before getting to Lulu. Instead of being consumed with my phone like I usually am while walking, I was checking out all of the window displays each place and I came up to the J. Crew storefront and stopped in my tracks. I peered into the window and saw this perfect piece on a mannequin display and immediately marched in to examine it. The minute I felt the material I knew it was ‘the one!’ I grabbed 3 sizes unsure of how it would fit and basically ran into the fitting room to try them on. Lo & behold the first one I slipped on fit perfectly {I went with an XS for reference–it runs a bit big & I actually sort of regret not trying on the XXS, but it’s totally ok!}. The $98 price tag had me in a bit of a panic but I had given myself a $100 budget so I figured it just made the cut. As I brought it up to the register I found out it was actually 25% and had to refrain myself from hugging the Sales Associate. {#noshame} My year-long mission could FINALLY be marked complete. HELLS Yeeaaaahhh!

So am I the only crazy one?!

Lets hope not. Please tell me I’m not the only girl who took forever to find the perfect Chambray dress. If I’m not the only weird one, then I suggest you run to your nearest J. Crew OR order this dress immediately to try on. The material is so incredibly soft which is a plus on all accounts and if you can snag it on sale, it’s price-tag is actually quite reasonable. I also love how versatile it is; paired with simple sandals and a crossbody bag, it’s the perfect daytime outfit for exploring a new city or you can easily liven it up with some fun pumps and a statement necklace for happy hour. I did have two ‘close’ options but ended up sending that back at the end of the return period because they were too far outside of my budget and I didn’t completely love them: this Paige one and this Splendid one. Now that I found the best option for me, I can start looking at a sleeveless version like this and a short-sleeve option like this one! ๐Ÿ˜‰
