So excited to share some Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Tips with y’all!

Early access starts in less than 48 hours for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. From July 12-19, Nordstrom cardholders can shop the insanely amazing sale before the general public is given access. This is the perfect time to stock up on all the Fall goodies that are being released. I love myself a good sale but this one is unlike any other! Instead of older items, or pieces that have been around for awhile, this sale includes BRAND NEW styles for Fall. It may seem a bit odd shopping for cooler weather pieces when it’s still 90+ degrees across most of the country, but I promise ya that it is worth it. Below I’m sharing 4 tips for shopping the sale:

#1: Get the Nordstrom Card

Being married to an Accountant and having a very budget-minded dad, I know credit cards can be trouble. I’m also definitely NOT encouraging you to go out and shop beyond your means! However for me personally, the Nordstrom credit card makes sense. I do 75% of my shopping here so being able to earn significant rewards for my purchases is a no-brainer. It also allows me to shop the Anniversary Sale early so it’s a win-win! Once you apply, you’ll know immediately if you’re qualified. If so, you’ll be able to shop with it right away. While you’re shopping the sale with your card, you’ll be earning points which basically means you’ll be racking up dollars for future purposes. Score!

#2: Browse the Catalog

You can get your sneak peek of some of the awesome items that are being discounted HERE. I encourage you to look through it. Then look through it again. And then go ahead and browse it at least 5 times more. Familiarize yourself with the brands that are being included, dog-ear any pieces that catch your eye. I received my catalog in the mail a few weeks ago and it looks like I’ve had it for years. It’s VERY well loved. 😉 While the catalog contains only a small fraction of the items that will be discounted, it gives you a great chance to get a feel for what this year’s popular items will be.

#3: Take Inventory/Make a List

What do you currently have hanging in your closet? Anything in particular you need? Are there things you do NOT need? The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is notorious for having an awesome selection of booties, sweaters, and statement jackets but if you have plenty of cozy knits from past seasons, you may just want to skip right on by those this year. After taking an inventory of what you have, start a list of what you need/want. I make a NEED list and a WANT list. For example, this year I need pair of black denim with no destruction, a new bra and Diptique candles for the new house. I want about 900 other things so clearly this list is longer. HA! Having a solid strategy for your purchases makes searching through the thousands of items so much easier!

#4: Don’t Hesitate

One of the best things about Nordstrom is their free shipping/free return policy. Usually I am one to add a bunch of things to my cart and then whittle what I actually buy down to 2-3 things. Not the case for me when it comes to this particular sale. Because so many pieces sell out at lightning speed my philosophy is ‘if I like it at first glance, order it.’ I’ve been burned too many times in past years with not getting something I wanted because I waited too long. I literally order an insane amount of stuff knowing that I’ll end up returning up to half of it. In between sizes? Get both and return what doesn’t fit. I’m a freak when it comes to anything that contains wool but if I think a cardigan looks cute online, I don’t bother to figure out the material until after it arrives on my doorstep because it can always go back!

Last year I rounded up my Top 10 Must Buys that I scooped up as soon as sale went live and 8 of those items sold out within the first few days. Further proof to not hesitate! Some of my favorite Anniversary Sale items from the past few seasons are still available…shop them below!
