Cold Weather Running Essentials

As someone who LOVES to run, I have had to get creative when it comes to getting my outdoor runs in despite continually dropping temps. One of my most requested posts has been for my cold weather running essentials so I figured now was time to get my picks up! The past few years I’ve hit the treadmill when it was below freezing out. This year I’ve become one with the arctic tundra & head out so long as the windchill is above 0*. I’m telling myself it makes me tougher LOL.

1) Thick-style Racerback bra (to hold #8) – Little Movements has been my go-to for inexpensive bras that are compressive & comfy! (Be sure to follow them on IG @little.movements if you don’t already)

2) Lightweight Long Sleeve – I swear by lululemon’s Swiftly Tech because they’re fitted, comfy and make a great base layer when it’s cold. The price is a bit steep but they’re great to wear solo as the temps rise!

3) Down Vest – It isn’t easy finding a good one under $100 so THIS NIKE OPTION on sale is a rare find. Down-filled is the way to go to block the wind & keep your core warm.

4) In Movement Tights – I’m calling these out by name because they are HANDS DOWN my favorite running leggings EVER. I have them in 4 colors and just ordered a 5th. They’re thin, soft but keep my legs (as warm) as they can. The 25″ length is great for my height and they don’t sag or bunch.

5) GPS Watch – Garmin makes the best running watches, in my humble opinion. The VivoActive Fit4 is the new version of my current watch and I have nothing but great things to say about it for run stat tracking.

6) Lined Ear Warmers – This light pink lulu warmer is the newest addition to my cold weather running essentials list (I needed a warmer option that what I was using) and already I am a fan. Some people prefer beanie-style headgear but they just don’t stay on me. A fleece lining, that is absorbant is key no matter what you choose!

7) On Running Shoes – Ok, this is clearly biased of me to say but I can’t imagine anyone not falling in love with Ons. I’m on my 3rd pair (currently so happy with my CloudFlows) — with 2 more coming this Spring — and they’ve improved how my feet feel post-run. They offer a ton of styles, so be sure to take their quiz to see which is the best fit for you personally.

8) Koala Clip – If you haven’t heard of the brand yet, you may live under a rock! 🙂 This amazing ‘clip’ lets you carry your phone with you but allows you to not think twice about where to put it. I hook it on the racer back of my bra (see #1) and the material is sweat-proof so my phone isn’t affected at all!

9) Tall Socks – This one should be intuitive but it wasn’t for me until about a month ago. Covering my ankles was an instant game-changer for me and I don’t feel like I struggle to warm up nearly as much. This pair is a great option that’s moisture-wicking & blister proof!

10) Quilted Gloves – Kyle got me this exact Nike pair for my birthday and they’ve been a lifesaver. Having a quilted style blocks the wind much better and keep the tops of your hands much more protected. (Only downside is my fingers still are cold at the start with my pair)
