Oh it’s the best time of the yearrr! Kidding, I reserve that sentiment for Christmas time. But I will claim the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a close runner-up. By far my most favorite retail sale of the year, I wanted to share a quick rundown of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Tips & Tricks with y’all. This will be my 7th year shopping {yikes} so I feel like I have a pretty solid strategy going. Here is last year’s Sale Prep post–I think it’s still super relevant again this year, as well as my fitting room try on (which I’ll do again) and what I actually bought.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Details
What is it?
Nordstrom’s biggest sale of the year. It’s your chance to shop BRAND NEW Fall/Winter pieces before they are truly ‘released.’ After the sale concludes, these items will go to full price. It feels weird, trust me I know, to be buying sweaters & coats when it’s 100* outside but I promise you’ll be happy you did. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Tips & Tricks #1: Buy It Now.
When is it?
August 19-30. UNLESSSSSS you’re a Nordstrom Cardholder. Yes, that means you have to have their specific credit card to shop early. *Apply Here* There are 4 ‘levels’ of cardholders and they start shopping as early as August 4. Basically the more you spend, the higher level you get to and the earlier you can shop. Biggest bonus this year: the preview of the sale is ONLINE NOW! You can get a sneak peek at everything included in the sale allowing you to make your lists now vs. on the spot when you get your access.
MAKE YOURSELF A WISH LIST. As you find things you want, choose the color & size and add it to your ‘wishlist.’ This will make shopping once the sale is available to you 100x easier!
Tips & Tricks
It’s crazy to say that there are really that many Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Tips & Tricks, but there are. And I have 5 to share to help {hopefully} make your experience easy and stress-free!
- Take Inventory of Your Current Closet – Figure out what you have, determine what you wore last year or what might still have the tags on it, note any major events you have for the Fall/Winter that you need to be dressing for, figure out what you ACTUALLY need.
- Set a Budget, Make a List – It’s so easy to go wayyy overboard with this sale. Too easy actually. Give yourself a budget and don’t stray. I promise you that if it’s not within your budget, you truly do not need it. I like to set a budget overall, but also for individual items (i.e. no more than $150 on denim for example). Once you have a budget decided on, start making a list. I do a ‘need’ list and a ‘want’ list.
- When In Doubt, Order Multiple Sizes – This seems counterproductive seeing as I just mentioned making a budget, but Nordstrom has free shipping & free returns so now is the time to get both sizes to make sure you get the right fit AND don’t miss out if something you love sells out.
- Don’t Forget Home/Beauty Buys – Underrated and often forgotten, these 2 categories actually end up having the best sales. If you can, there is a major opportunity to think ahead to Christmas gifts and getting some people crossed off your list. From blankets to dinnerware and makeup to hair care, the sales are crazy good.
- Stay in Your Lane – Everyone and their sister will be covering this sale. Meaning you’ll have SO MUCH SHIT in your face for the next 4-5 weeks. It’ll get overwhelming. Please don’t think just because blogger Sarah from Savannah got 7 pairs of OTK boots that you need to too. Take style tips from others but don’t allow anyone to influence you too much. Stay true to your budget, your style and your vibe.
