Dang, y’all know how to make a girl feel good! Last week’s Workout Wednesday post was a HIT. It’s nice to try and get a groove back. Working out is a major priority for me so a Workout Wednesday series was the perfect way to get back on the saddle. Speaking of saddle…I know that next week my top question is going to be about THE SPIN BIKE that I shared on stories last night. It’s hereee! The bike is nothing fancy, but it’s my ‘test drive’ to see if I use it enough to warrant a ‘nice’ one down the road. Alright, onto the good stuff…

Top 3 Questions of the Week

How much (alcohol) do you drink per week?

The amount of times I have been asked this makes me laugh. Legit got 17 DMs on Saturday evening after I posted my father-in-laws Crown Royal line-up. It’s cute because the way people have worded it is so cautious…like ‘not meaning this rude, but I’m curious how much alcohol you drink?’ and it’s almost immediately followed-up with something ‘because I know you’re healthy and you workout a lot.’ First off, it takes a lot to offend me! And second, I’m an open book so always ask if you have a question on something!

The answer is: rarely. Some months I may have 1 single alcoholic drink and some days I have 4. It’s called #balance, mmmk! 😉 I drink when we have an event/tailgate/party/etc. and I love a great spicy marg when we (use to) go out to dinner. But at home, I just don’t really drink. Feeling good when I wake up in the mornings is important to me. I HATEEE a hangover and even more hate the 2nd day after a night of drinking. Don’t get me wrong, I can totally get down for an ‘I’m just buzzed’ moment but it definitely isn’t a regular thing for me. I hate ’empty’ calories — and yes, I’m well aware I have struggles when it comes to food — and I avoid them whenever possible. Happy hour with the girls or a boozy brunch? Count me in. Random beer (ok, lets be real it would never be beer) at home? I’d rather have a chocolate chip cookie…

Why early AM workouts vs. afternoons or evenings?

Because if I don’t do it first thing in the morning, it likely won’t get done. Getting my sweat on bright & early gives me energy for my entire day. I like feeling accomplished before most people have even woken up and it sets a good tone for good habits for the day ahead. Another reason I choose morning workouts is because I feel 100x better exercising fasted. No food in my stomach prior to the workout works best for me.

What is your favorite core/ab exercise or workout?

Planks. Planks. More planks. Every kind of variation of planks. It’s so hard to just target your core, so I focus on keeping my core tight during all workouts and all full body moves. But seriously, planks. I like regular ones, rotating ones, up/downs, see-saws…call me crazy. Wouldn’t be the first time. I swear that doing plank work daily has not only helped build my overall core strength, but significantly improved my chronic back pain. So a win-win.

Workout Wednesday Workout of the Week:

ARM DAY

What you’ll ideally need: 1 medium-resistance band, 3 sets of DBs (light, medium & heavy) // If you’re a beginner, try 10-8-6 for the DB bench press & 2 rounds of each circuit, if you’re more advanced–up your weights!
