Monday Musings - Vol 9

Boots (size 8) / Sweatpants (size XS)

It snowed. In October. WHAT THE HECK. Monday Musings – Vol 9 is starting off frigid. And that’s in regards to both the actual temp and my internal mood! While I haven’t been officially diagnosed with seasonal depression, it’s pretty obvious that I struggle with the cold and gloom. So starting that combo this early makes me nervous. The thought of heading south to crash with my parents for a while is sounding very enticing. Plus my mom would cook for us 🙂

What we did this weekend…

Wrangled kiddos! Managing 3 babes under 4.5 years old is no joke. I mean it’s not like we thought it was but danggg. Extra respect for Haley for sure! THANK GOD Kyle decided to come with me because I truly am not sure I could’ve done it alone. Adam was in a wedding on Saturday so we played babysitters for Palmer, Campbell & Smith. It was SO FUN and also SO exhausting. In the best way. Having the 3 of them to ourselves was the best. They’re FULL of energy and seriously the sweetest. Kyle played about 3,000 games of football and I changed all the diapers. Definitely a team effort!

What is piling up in my cart…

Lots and lots of Target sweaters. I shared this deal last night in my Instagram stories but it’s so good that I had to share it here too. Currently all of these adorable knits are BOGO 50%. Nothing is over $40 to start with sooo I couldn’t help but putting more that necessary into my online cart. Obviously I won’t be buying them all so now comes the process of narrowing it down. Something I’m not so good at… So lets just say I’m forced to pick 4. At the moment, I’d have to go with: THIS ruffled shoulder cutie, this v-neck in the hot pink, this chenille pullover in blush & this cropped cardigan in black. I have so many style ideas for each of them!

What I’m worried about…

The election. Is it silly to be worried about it? Maybe so I guess. Nonetheless, I am. Continually I am having to remind myself that my hope and fate lie in the hands of a Sovereign King. My eternal home is not here in Iowa or the United States or on Earth. It is in Heaven. My space up there is already spoken for. I’m so much less concerned with who you vote for than I am about how you choose to treat those who vote differently than you. If we stopped hating our neighbors for their differing opinions, I’d venture to say there would be A LOT LESS hate in general. And that’s all I have to say about that topic. Ok one more thing actually: PLEASE GO VOTE.

Random Ramblings…

  • With Monday Musings – Vol 9 comes Meatless Monday #9. That’s right – the last 9 weeks I have had no meat on Mondays. It’s way easier than you may think. Last month I talked briefly about it, but it’s sticking well. Tonight’s ‘meatless’ main ingredient? Eggplant!
  • It’s full-on ‘take your Elderberry‘ season in the Kruse household. This will be our 3rd October-March season and probably the most important one so far. 2 gummies every day for each of us. I have these on auto-ship so we don’t run out! These were a top 5 selling item for me for ALL of 2019 if that gives you an idea of how many people love them too 🙂

  • The big Sephora Holiday Sale starts on Friday (10/30) for Rouge members, 11/3 for VIB members and 11/5 for Insiders! I’ll be doing a roundup of my must-haves late this week or this weekend, so be sure to check back for all the goods!
  • We added a second duvet insert to our cover late last week and it’s been AMAZZZING. Think cozy like those fancy hotel comforters. Basically I wanted something warmer but also wanted to give our room a little JW Marriott vibe on a budget. We had an extra King duvet insert in a basement storage bin so I figured why not try it. 13/10 recommend.
  • Does anyone else still subscribe to actual magazines!? I recently renewed my subscription to House Beautiful and the newest edition arrived on Saturday. One of my guilty pleasures is home/interior design magazines. Old school? Maybe…but the inspiration I’m getting for our basement is worth the price!
