SURPRISE! WE’RE EXPECTING! I always find it odd when couples say ‘we are pregnant’ because I mean only one of you really is, while the other is along for the ride. So I AM PREGNANT and Kyle’s been playing the doting, supportive, overly attentive future-dad like he was made for this role. Because I’m quite sure he was. But seriously, I cannot believe I’ve even been blessed enough to say/type out those words. God is SO GOOD. His timing, His will, His plans…all of them are infinitely better and more perfect than any that we could have dreamt of.

Our journey of being able to say we’re expecting started 2,386 days ago. On a trip with friends to Cancun to be exact. But this particular part of that journey started on November 17, 2020 when I first had my solo consult with our current Reproductive Endocrinologist in Omaha. It was that day Kyle and I knew IVF was our last and best option. January 12, 2021 I took my first birth control pill to get things rolling and on February 19 I had my egg retrieval. It was 5 days later that our viable embryos were frozen. So really I feel like that’s the day God hand-picked which of those 10 would one day make their way home to us. You all have been along for the roller coaster, so keeping this secret has been tough. But here we are!

Quick Fire Answers

I know that I’ll be getting bombarded {YAYYY – can’t wait!} with questions, so I wanted to get a few answers out to bring y’all somewhat up-to-speed:

  • We did our 3rd transfer on August 9thno one knew this exact timing except our parents, sisters, my cousin & my best friend Jason
  • I will be 15 weeks on Wednesday
  • Due date is currently April 27, 2022 {my dad’s birthday!} – although due to numerous factors there’s no way I’ll go that late
  • We do not know gender and will NOT be finding out prior to birth 🙂
  • Experienced (and still experiencing) all-day nausea starting at 5.5 weeks
  • No cravings, but putting Louisiana Hot Sauce on everything & pickles are my favorite snack
  • Aversions: coffee in any form, chocolate, overly sweet things, strong smells
  • Working out daily, but haven’t ran since transfer
  • Taking THESE Prenatal Vitamins + a prescription for additional folic acid & Vitamin D3 daily
  • My next OB visit is November 15th – I’ll be 16+5

We're Expecting

Ok that’s about all I have for you right now. Kyle and I are unbelievably grateful and overwhelmed with what a true blessing this really is. We know firsthand what it feels like to see others celebrate success when doors were being slammed in our faces. Please know that you can simultaneously be excited for us AND broken/confused for yourself. We’ve been there and felt all those things too. The only thing that has gotten me through each nerve-wracking blood draw, ultrasound & appt. since August 9 is repeating ‘Your Will Be Done.’ And meaning it. God’s got you. He’s got us. And he sure as heck is loving on all our babies that left us before we got to hold them in our arms.
