White dresses can be intimidating. White tends to often be associated with all things bridal –Bachelorette Party dress & bridal showers & wedding gown–but as long as you steer clear of overly frilly frocks or obnoxiously lacey numbers, you’re great. The color really should be treated a summer {and winter for that matter} staple for EVERYONE! I love how white can transition from day to night, work to play, and simple to dressy. While in Minneapolis last month I wandered into the Mall of America’s Madewell store and saw thisdress hanging on one of the mannequins. The grid print was the first thing that got my attention but the shape was what convinced me to try it on. As soon as I slipped it over my head I knew it was a keeper…plus I’m a sucker for any dress that has pockets! The thicker material, high-cut neckline, and knee-length silhouette make it a great pick for any occasion.

I have been waiting for the perfect outfit to break out these adorable black & white espadrilles {I also have the tan/white pair and wear them nonstop!} that I got on sale and this dress felt like the perfect excuse. I absolutely love how the simplicity of the dress’s pattern stands out against the small town Iowa backdrop. Keeping my jewelry simple was key, so I threw on a pendant necklace and similarly-styled cuff to bring out pops of black. PS–how CUTE is this mini crossbody?! The indigo color is gorgeous in person and am super tempted to buy the full-sized Sage version. {Total sidetrack but Skagen (you probably know them for their watches) has an amazing line of leather bags…definitely worth checking out!}Here are a few other white dresses that I’m loving: one, two, three, and four
