Dressing for work during the week doesn’t have to be boring. Sure dress pants, suit jackets, and high necklines may not be your ideal go-to when putting together an outfit, but that doesn’t mean you can have a little fun with your 8-5 (or 7am-7pm) wardrobe! While I am lucky enough to work in an environment where I’ve been able to make this and theseappear business casual enough, there are plenty of days where big client meetings are happening or major prospects are in town. Times like those call for a more dressy appearance and I welcome the challenge of creating a business professional look that still reflects my personal style and doesn’t sacrifice comfort. This bright purple pencil skirt packs a punch while maintaining its classic shape, and it’s spot-on in terms of office-appropriate style. The length is modest enough for a Board Meeting but the color keeps it young and fresh. I picked up this skirt during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and while this particular color is sold-out, the camel version is still available here

I wore this outfit last week for meetings and instead of playing it safe, I chose to play off the matching tones and put on this patterned top to create a bold look. I was really surprised from the number of compliments, from both females and males, as I was a bit concerned that the combo may have been too much. I was sure to keep all of my accessories neutral as there was enough already going on. If this outfit is a bit wild for your office tastes, you can easily swap out my top for a classic white button-up and heels and pair the patterned blouse with dark skinnys and booties for date night. Right now I’m really loving business staples in unexpected colors and have recently purchased these pants, this jacket {very Olivia Pope with wide leg black pants!} and this blouse. Take a step outside your usual and put some vibrant color into your weekdays!
