I wish Mother Nature would make up her freaking mind here in Nebraska!

One day it’s 78*, sunny and perfect; the next day it’s barely 40*, raining sideways and feels like Winter again. So bipolar! As someone whose idea of checking the weather consists of looking out the bedroom window in the morning, I’ve been burned by the weather more times than I can count lately. Technically it’s Spring and that means lots of wind days, huge temperature variations, and lots of rain BUT I think of Spring as warm breezes, windows open, sun shining. So that’s the kind of day I expect, Nebraska. Got that!? 😉

I have Spring Fever!

Most people say that when it’s not actually Spring but it’s close…I say it now because I can and because I love it. I just adore all the flowers finally blooming, the smell of the freshly cut grass after Kyle {definitely not me} mows, and being able to have adult beverages on the patio. One of the toughest things for me about Spring is dressing appropriately. It’s not uncommon in Omaha to wake up to 45* and dewy grass but then by the time we’re off work see it jump 30* and increased humidity, which makes it somewhat difficult to decide what to put on before I leave the house. I’ve come to find out that layering is my best friend and that I can’t go wrong with mixing & matching. Since I’m usually cold 95% of the time, I almost always choose to show some leg before my arms. Weird, I know. I’ve been re-wearing this lightweight cardigan because it keeps me warm without making me sweat and pairs perfectly with skinnys, cut-offs {obsessed with One Teaspoon shorts!}, or a flirty skirt.

This outfit is a bit random, but I loved it.

This outfit is a bit of a hot mess. I’m aware. But it felt very cool and mismatched so I went with it. It was warm out but not hot, sunny, windy, and kind of perfect. These shorts were my favorite pair from last Summer so I celebrated the fact I actually shaved my legs by breaking them out. The high-waisted fit paired with the oversized boyfriend style is perfection in my book. Plus they’re not so short that they look like Hollister shorts circa-2005. Those tiny, kid-sized shorts weren’t cute on me back then and sure as heck are not cute on me now. Gimme some length and I’m much happier! I paired the shorts with a simple tunic that I literally own in 5 colors, heeled sandals and a bucket bag for a look that to me screams 50% ‘Walk of Shame’ and 50% ‘Effortlessly Thrown Together.’ After writing that, I think my goal will be for my outfits to have no ‘Walk of Shame’ feels. Oops! Cheers to it being FRIDAY–now if it could just be 4pm so I can be sitting on the patio at Mark’s with Gina having a glass, ok probably bottle, of Rose!?! xox
