Easy Swing Dresses are the best.

Not worrying about matching a top and bottom is also kind of the best. It feels like Kyle and I are constantly on the go so I have really tried to maximize functionality and comfort with the items that I have in my closet. If something isn’t practical or able to be worn both to the office and for happy hour, then it’s likely not going to end up in my shopping cart. I like to kill as many birds with one stone as possible. Of course that is totally metaphoric since I have never killed a bird in my life — I leave that to the husband. HA! 😉 But in all seriousness, I’ve lately found myself drawn towards soft, flattering swing dresses in an array of colors. I love that with a wedge and statement necklace they look very chic but with a denim jacket and sneakers you can be fashionable at a ball game.

Whenever I can wear a sports bra while being ‘dressed up,’ it’s a win!

Maybe I am the only adult female who has this adverse reaction to wearing real bras {#smallchestprobs} but when I can wear a sports bra, or no bra for that matter, I am so much happier. Like I seriously think my mood is somewhat based on the type of bra I have on. A little too much information? Sorry. Kind of. 😉 I’m just being totally real. So when I was at Nordstrom in the Mall of America and saw this {forgive me, I can’t find the color option online but my girlfriend just confirmed it’s still in the store!} swing dress for under $40, I knew I needed it. I already have it in this, this, and this version but the navy with thin, red stripes just looked like nothing else I had so clearly that meant I needed it. The way I justify my purchases can be embarrassing sometimes…oh well. When I like something, I tend to over-indulge in it. Case in point: Lush Swing Dresses from Nordstrom.

Work or play, this can do it all.

It really can. I wore this exact look to run errands in and then swapped out the gladiators for these heeled sandals and this clutch to head to dinner. I love that there was no thought or effort into changing for a different event but instead I am able to get so much use out of this. When Winter comes–gross, can’t believe I just wrote that–I will likely knot the dress into more of a shirt look and add some kind of blazer over top with skinnys to transition it into a year-round staple. Did everyone have great weekends!? We FINALLY were in Omaha, with no guests, for the entire weekend which meant lots of Spring cleaning, a closet overhaul for me {TONS of new stuff listed to my Poshmark closet, username: @brekruse}, getting some sun, & a sushi date. The best kind of weekend for sure.
