Every girl needs a little red dress.

It’s an unwritten rule in my mind and one that I think should be etched in fashion stone. I honestly believe red is a universally flattering color no matter what your skin tone or hair color may be. Sure there are softer hues of the bold color that could be used for certain ladies and a more vivid punch for others, but regardless; we all need at least one red dress. It’s likely we all have a plethora of LBDs in our closets but I bet most of us don’t have a red one. Lets change that! 🙂 Ok, no idea why I am advocating for something so basic but when I get my mind set on something I just run with it. Major nerd. Not sorry!

Off the Shoulder + Flirty length = Date Night Perfection.

Can you believe July is nearly over?! Where the heck has Summer gone?! While I’m getting a bit eager for crisper weather so I can bring out cozy knits and boyfriend jeans, I’m holding on to the hot + humid evenings as long as possible. I love being able to wear flirty frocks, off the shoulder pieces and lightweight materials. Something about minimal thought going into my outfit is always a good thing in my book. Plus Kyle always seems to compliment what I’m wearing more often when it involves short-lengths and bare shoulders. Boys! 😉 I first noticed this super inexpensive OTS mini on the ASOS website a few months back but I was completely sold on it when #GirlBoss Ruthie Ridley rocked it in a blog post a while back. The dress comes in a handful of colors and I debated between the red, yellow and coral for nearly two weeks before finally pulling the trigger on the color that immediately caught my eye. I couldn’t be happier with my decision! I feel like a pretty {adult-version} of a princess in this.

For a Saturday Night date night, I paired the mini with lace-up sandals, a statement pendant and one of my favorite mini bags. The look was cool and casual and did a great job of hiding my sweat. The heat index was right around 115* at 8pm so the billowy cut was perfect for creating at least a tiny breeze to help cool me off. I’m super excited to wear this as a top as well and pair it with my favorite skinny jeans and wedges for a completely different look. How would YOU style this!? Always up for hearing ways to maximize the cost-per-wear on everything I buy! 🙂
