A plaid shirt you can wear year-round? Yes please!

Something about a comfy, cozy, slightly over-sized plaid just warms my heart. Maybe that makes me weird but I’m totally OK with that. Because I’m still in full-on Summer mode over here, my typical go-to plaids {this one & this one are favorites of mine!} have seen very minimal wear lately. Sure I’ll grab one as we head off on a weekend road trip or throw one around my waist for an evening ice cream date but the thought of long sleeves in this humidity is nearly as unbearable as the humidity itself. On another random note, I’ve realized that all of my plaids are in the same relative color family: black, grey, navy and white. Sure there may be a tiny hint of red or bright blue in a few but their mostly neutral and very predictable. I guess that color scheme is actually a reoccurring theme throughout me entire closet though. Ya win some, ya lose some! In the spirit of adding some color into my life since it is Summer and all, I knew immediately after seeing this short sleeved, pastel plaid top in the store window that I needed to go in an purchase it immediately. Maybe I didn’t really need it but my self-control was clearly not very high that day. Oops!

Weekend casual with minimal effort.

Unless I’m getting dolled up for a special occasion, I like my weekend wear to be as effortless and comfortable as possible. *Also, PLEASE forgive the fact that I have zero makeup on in these photos. Like I said, I like my weekend looks to be laid back, HA!* Since plans seem to pop up and change on a moment’s notice for us on the weekends, I like to make sure whatever I’m wearing is acceptable for anything ranging from errands to afternoon beers on a patio to an impromptu trip to the zoo. Yes, I’m 27 and have a membership to the Omaha Zoo. It’s actually the best! Last weekend was one of those that involved few actual plans and lots of spontaneity so I threw on this short sleeve plaid with my favorite white cut offs and called it good. The outfit ended up being perfect for a Target run, grabbing takeout and going for a short drive. Seriously my favorite kind of Saturday night! 🙂 My top is currently on sale for less than $40 and it will be the perfect transitional piece to take me right into Fall with a cozy cardigan and pair of neutral booties. Unfortunately I got stuck paying full price but the cost per wear thus far has been totally worth it! I’m also really loving this white option that’s on sale as well as this tartan print that is currently in my cart.

Any fun plans this weekend?! My sister Cassidy is coming down tonight and tomorrow I’m taking her to a Cycle + Sculpt class at Elevate & then we’re getting pedicures. Perfect sister morning! 🙂 Now if only Haley & Janae could join us, then it’d be perfect. Happy Friday, loves!!! xox
