I’m seeing red!

But in a good way. Today’s Workout Wednesday post is leaning more towards the fashionable side of fitness and athleisure wear but I sincerely believe THESE leggings deserve an entire post dedicated to them and them alone. I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of bold, blood red workout leggings for FOREVER. No joke, I’m constantly scouring my favorite spots to buy workout items {Lulu, Bandier, Nordstrom, Carbon38} in hopes that one of them will finally have a pair in stock and in my size. Nordstrom came close with capri tights but when they arrived the color was SO BAD. Think neon orange meets bright coral. Not red by any means and entirely disappointing. But then I got an email from Splits59 for their annual 5/9 sale and THESE babies screamed ‘buy me now’ through the screen. With the sale price tag I knew I had to pull the trigger but by the time I got them in my cart and started entering my credit card info, I got the horrible ‘sorry those are gone‘ screen. UGH. I was instantly bummed. Thankfully I’d grade myself an A++ in online shopping so I knew that I could check both Shopbop and Revolve since they also carry the brand. Bless Revolve’s heart because one of their customer service reps hooked me up with the sale price and in 2 days I finally had the long sought-after red leggings I had been searching high and low for. Yes, I know, the struggle is real. And yes, I also know how pathetic that entire paragraph sounds. 🙂

Why y’all need these…

I know that not all leggings are created equal, much like no girl’s body is like another. Which is why I very rarely advocate buying something just because I personally love it. However, if you’re a fan of bright red then I’m highly encouraging you to at least give this particular pair a try for three major reasons: they suck me in in all the right places, they stay put during the toughest workouts and the color is bold but not overtly bright. All three of those aspects are incredibly important {well #3 less so} in bottoms that I’m going to be working up a major sweat in. I like to feel held in and secure whether I’m sprinting at an incline on the treadmill, rowing, doing bench hop-overs, etc. The last thing I want to be doing is worrying about how I look at the gym or on the pavement so knowing that the fit is flattering on my stockier build makes me confident about pulling them on and heading out the door. It’s also pretty much the greatest thing when your pants aren’t constantly slipping and sliding down as your workout intensifies. Typically I’m drawn to high-waist options but these have stayed in place during every test I’ve put them through so they’re definitely a winner in my book. Last but not least I’m just thoroughly impressed with the color and style. The mesh details provide a bit of edge and the black/white racer stripes create some contrast. Oooh and bonus: they conceal sweat really well for a color other than black!

Just finished my last run before Saturday’s race {the nerves are real people!} plus some abs this morning in my hotel and now I’m off to put in almost a 12 hour work day. Currently in St. Louis so if you have any coffee shop or HH location suggestions, send them my way! xox
