Last May I started A Midwestern Mix as a creative outlet. Surrounded by mostly males at work {and by Kyle & Beckett at home}, I felt like I was lacking an ability to share my passions for writing, fashion, fitness and lots of other girlie topics. Growing up, friends would ask me what I was wearing when we were going out or where I got a specific piece and as I got older and posted pictures on social media from different things, I started getting text messages or phone calls with those same questions. Where did I get the jeans I was wearing in last Saturday’s Facebook post? Where should someone look for the best pair of nude heels? What should someone wear to an outdoor wedding? At the beginning of 2015 I knew that I wanted to start a blog but was not entirely sure what I wanted it to look like or even how to really go about it. I told myself I wouldn’t start anything until I had done my research and had 1 months worth of content ready. I wanted to consistently post every Monday, Wednesday, Friday along with the potential to post on ‘off’ days if there were major sales or something special to talk about. I wanted to commit to blogging but also worried about overwhelming myself since I had a full, 40+ hour job, a house to take care of and a husband & pup to spend time with. So on May 4, 2015 I began my blogger journey.

Fast forward 9 months and here I am! Fully committed to A Midwestern Mix and so excited to continue to grow it not only as my creative outlet but also as a personal brand. The blog will still 100% reflect ME but on an even more amplified scale. You can expect very similar content as well as new collaborations, more fitness & food/recipe posts, travel guides, and other exciting things! Today I am introducing you to a new look, a new logo, and a new domain. Over the next few weeks I will be making a couple more tweaks and updates so please let me know what you like, don’t like, and share any suggestions you may have! 🙂

I would like to say a huge THANK-YOU to Katie Kassel for creating–in free hand–my new logo. She seriously killed it for me. It is everything I asked for and she was so patient and open to my critiques and needs. I absolutely adore her! Along with Katie, I’m thankful for great customer service from both BluChic and Bluehost as well as help from a few amazing co-workers {gngsta life} that made my launch goal of February 1, 2016 happen. As they say: ‘it takes a village,’ and that couldn’t have been more true throughout this process. Last but not least, my biggest thanks goes to the person behind the lens: Kyle. Without his willingness to venture out to random locations in all types of weather conditions, this entire blog would have never been possible. He’s supported me the entire time and I couldn’t ask for anything more!

Here’s to hoping you all love the new look as much as I do and as I said above…PLEASE let me know what you think and what you’d like to see from A Midwestern Mix moving forward!
