For my last Valentine’s Day look I wanted to do something show-stopping. Not everyone is like me and wants to stay in wearing an outfit like this and others venture out on dinner dates dressed like this quite often, so they’d prefer to amp it up a bit on this special day. Girls, I definitely do NOT blame you if you’re one of these people. More power to you! Maybe your plans involve a swanky dinner and a bottle of Dom or maybe you and your girlfriends have a fun evening of dancing ahead of you, but whatever the situation is, a killer red dress is sure to turn your significant other’s head {or anyone around you for that matter} when you walk into the room. To me, red is a color of boldness. It exudes confidence and instantly makes you feel fierce. It is crazy how a simple hue on the color wheel seems to yield such power, but as around and I’m sure other females will tell you something similar. I’m pretty sure my alter-ego wears red! HA!

The minute I slipped on this flirty little red dress I could not keep myself from twirling around like a little kid! It is so fun and has a youthful yet sexy appeal to it. I love how the front has a more modest cut which really allows the back of the dress to stand out. At a price that is totally wallet-friendly, I’m seriously considering getting it in black–it would be perfect to wear to a Summer wedding. Lulu’s is a great option for reasonably priced, super cute dresses and I had a tough time picking out just one. I was also debating between 4 others found here, here, here, & here and honestly don’t think I could’ve chosen wrong. Since it is only in the low 20s at the moment, there is no way to run around town in this dress alone so my cropped faux fur was the perfect topper to add warmth and a touch of ‘glam.’ I tried to avoid being too matchy with red heels, and am a bit tired of my usual nude ones, so I went a bit out of the box with a bright white pair. Minimal jewelry and a bold lip finished off this incredibly fun ensemble. I seriously feel like I should be going to dinner at Buddakan and drinks at STK in this, but then I reminded myself that I live in Omaha and not in New York! 😉

**Be sure to follow me on Instagram (@amidwesternmix) and Snapchat (kristinkruse) this weekend because Kyle is taking me on a long weekend getaway and I have NO CLUE where we are going or what we are doing! I’m not usually a fan of surprises so it’s killing not knowing but it’s also kind of nice not being the one who made our plans for once!**
