Back to reality.

Kyle and I got back home late yesterday evening and I’m super exhausted. Like I could probably use a vacation from our vacation. Despite San Diego only being 2 hours behind Omaha, by internal time just feels off. Totally not complaining though…our trip was seriously amazing and I already cannot wait to go back. I apologize for no Workout Wednesday yesterday, or posting a Pattern Mixing post for the Spring Style Challenge, but I really wanted to enjoy our last day on the coast and disconnect from social media. Today’s challenge is all about FLORALS but to be honest, I do not own a single floral printed item. Not a skirt, tank, bag, etc. How crazy is that!? Since I’m still coming down from the Spring Break high, I decided to hit y’all with my usual #ThursdayThree and tailor it towards our trip…

#1 Local Beer – I’m a craft brew connoisseur, love trying new beers, and have rarely found an IPA I wasn’t a fan of. San Diego is home to some awesome breweries so I made sure to try out as many local options as I could possibly manage. We did run into a few that we didn’t love but my two favorites were the Coronado Stingray IPA and the Ballast Point Sculpin IPA. Kyle isn’t usually into IPAs but he really liked the Ballast Point so we grabbed a 6-pack from the Target near our hotel to have during our stay. I seriously hope I can find some of those local brews around the Midwest because they definitely beat out my local favorites in Omaha!

#2 Improvising my daily workout – Not every hotel we stay at has a great gym, or even has any gym for that matter, so getting creative with fitting workouts in is crucial. Yes, I can skip a few days of workouts but I don’t like to because I personally FEEL better throughout my entire day if I do fit in a sweat session. Southern Californians are incredibly active and there are so many running paths, bike trails, and hiking hot spots that there really are no excuses not to get moving each day. Our first few nights in La Jolla we had an incredible, paved beach path that went miles in each direction so long walks/runs were easy. Sunday we hiked Torrey Pines {stay tune for more about that next Wednesday!} and totaled up over 9 miles in a few short hours. I also did a few short Tone It Up routines in our hotel room–this one, this one & this one–to add some body weight strength training to my days.

#3 Versatile travel tote – Nothing is worse than trying to lug multiple bags and items through airport security and onto the plane. I also hate not having a bag big enough to fit my essentials…laptop, chargers, a book, sunglasses, Kind Bar, and small makeup bag. This tote is one of my all-time favorites and I’ve gotten so much use out of it over the years. I love the darker color so it hides any blemishes and the material is perfect for encountering dirty floors, etc. Longchamp makes great quality bags at an affordable price-point and they keep me coming back for new styles and colors regularly!
