Summer Sweater sounds like an oxymoron doesn’t it!?

I mean who wants to wear a sweater when it’s hot out? Not me. Well OK, I actually do because I’m cold all the time but that’s an entirely different issue. Summers are for denim cut-offs, breezy tanks and colorful sandals but they can also be a time when gauzy sweaters can come out to play too! Of course no one would ever think to wear wool or mohair when the temps are at the upper end of the scale but a lightweight rayon or acrylic blend is perfect for after sunset when a little chill hits the air. I always have some sort of topper on hand at all times; whether I’m on a road trip, in my office or lounging in the basement binge-watching a show, I need layers. Usually those layers come from Turkish Towels or thin scarf from about mid-June through late-August but I’m starting to itch for MORE layers. Do not misread that and think I’m ready for Fall because girl, BYEEE. I want Summer forrrreevvvveerrrrr. But I what I want is upper-70s during the day and low-60s at night so I can wear a pair of jeans without having to peel them off when I get home. Too much to ask though, right?! Well today I got my wish! It’s GORGEOUS out but it’s not going to last because next week is back into the 90s which means back into wearing next to nothing.

White + Light + Easy

After receiving this OTS dress and this cover up from SheIn a few weeks ago, I decided to spend a little bit of time {or a lot since they have like a billion items} browsing their website to see what else I might need. I have had my eye on this cold shoulder sweater for a while now but have never been able to justify the price so when I saw that there was a super similar option on SheIn’s website, I knew I needed it. While the quality may not be quite on-par with Free People, at less than $20 I don’t mind. This sweater is soft, cozy and just a slight bit over-sized which are all winning qualities in my mind! I know people have a lot of mixed reviews about ordering from the site, but in all honesty I had nothing but great luck and experiences. My one suggestion is to definitely pay attention to sizing and reviews as I’ve noticed some items do run a bit small. My sister just had some great luck as well! She wore this maxi dress for Palmer’s Baptism this weekend and had so many compliments on it. If you’re shopping for trendier pieces or something to wear for a certain event, you can seriously look no further and you can save yourself a dreadful trip into the hot mess that is a Forever 21 store.

Since it is the beginning of August after all, I pair this white cold shoulder cutie with button-fly Levis, lace-ups and called it good. I love how casual this looks and it was perfect for a simple evening of errands and ice cream. I’m so excited to style this as the seasons change and am already envisioning the sweater paired with black destructed denim and booties as well as with a suede skirt and lace-up flats. It’ll easily be dressed up or down and I think I’m even going to make an attempt at wearing it in the office. Since I’m no joke the only female in our office, I feel like I can basically wear whatever I want whenever I want because they have no idea what a girl can or should wear. Lucky me! 🙂
