Shop my look: Shorts / Top / Bra

Today I am celebrating Global Running Day with lululemon. When it comes down to it, I think my love for running is just about equal to the love I have for the lululemon brand. After making my first purchase {black Wunder Under leggings} in 2013, I was hooked and have never looked back. They’ve been my go-to for all fitness–and now lounge–apparel and I’m never disappointed in their gear. I like to think of it as an investment in making sure I look & feel good while bettering my health! 😉

My Running Whys…

It’s Mental.

I run as a form of therapy. A way to clear my head. It’s me time where I can focus on accomplishing a goal and prepare myself for the day ahead. It’s helped de-stress me from numerous situations and it’s honestly probably saved me from lashing out at someone on multiple occasions.

It keeps me in shape.

This is an obvious one but running keeps me in shape. Combined with consistent strength training and a pretty decent diet, I definitely credit running to helping me lose the ‘freshman 15-20ish’ that stayed around after college and keep it off the last 6+ years. Hands-down my preferred way to work up a sweat, I love incorporating speed days at the track into my routine. Some months I run 100+ miles, other months I just got out for whatever feels good, but no matter the distance I never regret the decision to run.

It’s inclusive.

I run because it’s free and I can do it nearly anywhere at just about any time. You don’t have to pay $100+/month to some fancy boutique fitness facility to run. You don’t have to have the newest brand of shoe. You don’t even have to be fast. Anyone can run and because of that, I’ve been able to race alongside my husband, dad, sister, sister-in-law & some of my best friends. If you’re moving your feet faster than your walking pace, you’re running. Seeing people from all different backgrounds come together at the starting line of a race is seriously one of the coolest experiences.

Global Running Day may just be a random Wednesday to most people, but to me it’s a day to recognize the community that I feel so lucky to be a part of.
