Goodness gracious, there are only 3 Mondays left in 2020. That means Monday Musings – Vol 16 is one of the last 3 for the year. Dang. Crazy to think that this year is nearly complete. In some ways I feel like it’s flown by, but then I also feel like I’ve experienced years worth of emotions in just 348 days. Equally ready to close the this chapter as I am to start fresh.

What I’ve been baking…

Monday Musings - Vol 16

Sugar cookies! What won’t I be baking again until we have kids of our own that are old enough to decorate? Sugar Cookies! Cripes, they are horrible to make. SUCH A MESS. This is the exact reason why I prefer cooking over baking. In all honesty, I did this batch for the gram. They’re not my prettiest cookies, but they do taste good! Kyle even got in on the fun of decorating! Mr. Perfectionist wasn’t too thrilled that his sprinkles weren’t sticking very well, so it was almost like I had a child at the counter 😉 Regardless, it was a fun endeavor and I won’t be sad if I wait another year to make these. Or maybe I’ll talk someone else into making them FOR me…

What I can’t stop wearing…

Red, green and all the Christmas-y colors in between. Seriously, though. Living in pj sets. Christmas pj sets to be exact. My collection continues to grow and for that, I have no shame. Birthday month flows right into Christmas month and it’s the best combination I could ask for! Target is my go-to spot for a cheap, but super cute, matching looks. Ok, so Target is my go-to for almost everything LOL… This year’s favorite is THIS THERMAL LONG SLEEVE + LEGGING combo. So nice, I’ve purchased it twice. Maybe a 3rd time is necessary. Oh, and it’s constantly on sale. Size down though–it runs big!

What is coming…

A NEW LOOK for A Midwestern Mix. It’s been 5+ years since my first ‘Take 1’ post in May of 2015 and it’s been a fun ride thus far. I’ve been throwing around the idea of a revamp but after kind of taking a blog post hiatus through a good chunk of 2018 & 2019, I didn’t feel like I deserved to invest our money in something I wasn’t fully committed to. Back in August when I started my the Monday Musings series, I wasn’t sure I would even make it to Monday Musings – Vol 16. It was a test of my consistency. I more than surpassed my goal so I reached out to a designer I trust for help. So without saying too much, a new vibe is in the works. We’re {and by we’re I mostly mean she} getting close and I’m SO excited. By no means will the site be drastically different, but it’ll a bit more mature/organized and is long overdue!

Random Ramblings…

  • I’m getting the itch to sell our living room furniture and buy new. Kyle will literally kill me, so it’s probably not going to happen…but that isn’t stopping me from beginning to shop 🙂
  • Can’t get enough of my Necessaire products. No, this isn’t sponsored {but I wish it was}. The Eucalyptus scent is my go-to but I recently ordered the Sandalwood as a back-up because my heart can’t say no to a masculine-ish scent.

  • We watched Hillbilly Elegy last night and the waterworks were flowing for me. If you’re even remotely emotional, I suggest grabbing a box of Kleenex just in case. While I think the book was better, the movie was great. It really makes me thankful for my upbringing…I’ll just leave it at that.
  • I have been using my heated blanket NONSTOP lately. It’s no secret that I’m always cold, but the past week or so has been brutal. Kyle got mine for me 2 years ago and it’s a brilliant gift idea. 373/10 recommend for my fellow cold-blooded girls!
  • Y’all know I love to discover new, small/local spots and I recently found Blue 4 U. They’re based in Fremont, NE but have an online shop & sell on Instagram as well! My scarf & boyfriend jeans below are from Blue 4 U and you can get 20% off any order with code KRISTIN at checkout!
